Alexandre Mallard’s research interest initially focused on the sociology of science and technology. After completing his thesis on the coordination of action through instruments, he spent a post-doctoral year at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin. From 1997 to 2009, he worked at the social science research center of France Telecom Research and Development, where he carried out research projects and surveys on the use of Information and Communication Technologies in professional environments. In particular, he has carried out a series of research projects on commercial work, Very Small Enterprises, the development of networked interactions in companies, and the construction of the boundaries between private and professional life. His current research interests are in economic sociology, innovation and the sociology of uses.
