Vicky is a research associate and doctoral student at the University of Frankfurt, where she works in the ‘Biotechnologies, Nature and Society’ research group. Before coming to Frankfurt, she studied political science and economics at LMU Munich (B.A.) with two semesters at Sciences Po; followed by studies at Humboldt University Berlin and Goldsmiths, University of London (M.A.). She then worked at the Berlin office of the OECD and at the University of Aberdeen.
Her research interests include the history and knowledge of capitalism (green and digital), STS, economic sociology, political and environmental sociology, sociology of time and feminist theories.
Her thesis, entitled “Biosolutionism. Speculative futures toward the financialization of nature’, explores the history of the integration of nature into the circuits of capital and shows that the grammar of “biosolutionism” goes hand in hand with the expansion of finance and the practices of making the future. Focusing on the period between the late 1960s and the present, it examines the history of economic knowledge to integrating nature into circuits of capital, examining the conflation of the contradictory constellations of actors, discourses, and institutions invested in the valuation of ecosystems, how nature has become (I) calculable (II) governable and (III) investable in the techno-economic imagination.
