Architectural Book Award 2023: “Le soin des choses” by Jérôme Denis and David Pontille

Architectural Book Award 2023:

Le soin des choses

by Jérôme Denis and David Pontille

The Architectural Book Prize 2023 is awarded by the French Academy of Architecture to “Le soin des choses” by Jérôme Denis and David Pontille (La Découverte).

Between narrative, research and alert, this book draws attention to the fragility of things, ‘things’ in the generic sense of the term beyond even architecture, the city and heritage or stone, but applying to any material production. It goes beyond the obviousness of the object by highlighting its ‘unruliness’, a metaphor for its transformation through use and time, as well as through repair or restoration“, the jury declares.

The French Academy of Architecture, through the annual Prix du Livre d’Architecture awarded since 1996, aims to promote all forms of architectural culture, be they scholarly, fictional, critical, sensitive or literary, or even committed to the great causes of architectural and urban space. Its goal is to raise public awareness of architectural, urban planning and landscape issues and social stakes involved.

Jérôme Denis and David Pontille were honored at an awards ceremony at the Académie d’architecture on November 10, 2023 at 6pm.
