This book is the result of close collaboration between the JST, CNRS and EHESS in co-organizing two conferences in 2015 and 2016: “Engaging Society in Innovation and Creativity: Perspectives from Social Sciences and Humanities” and “Innovation Beyond Technology”.
This project is based on a series of convictions: innovation is not limited to technological innovation; the contribution of the human and social sciences is crucial in analysing its different aspects; an interdisciplinary approach within the human and social sciences, but also between the human and social sciences and the natural sciences is necessary for a good understanding of the subject; finally, the collaboration between France and Japan contributes the richness of the complementary approaches of their respective scientific communities.
The book presents an original and truly interdisciplinary approach to innovation by some of the best specialists in the field in France and Japan.
