Sociologie des agencements marchands. Textes choisis

Sociology of market-agencements. Selected writings

What is the market? For the past fifteen years, Michel Callon and researchers at the Center for Sociology of Innovation (CSI) at the École des mines have been examining this issue, which is so little discussed by researchers in economics; they question it as a continuation of their work on the sociology of translation, known as the Actor-Network Theory. These new researches are characterized by the attention paid to all actors involved in market formation and to the central role of technical devices and scientific knowledge, by the importance of the experimental practices and the process of qualification of goods and services.

The book presents a selection of important texts that were milestones in this collective reflection and are still current. It ends with an original and fundamental text by Michel Callon that explores a new concept of market-agencement; he suggests to replace it with that of market-interface in order to account for all the activities and processes now at the center of the market action.

The authors are Michel Callon, Madeleine Akrich, Sophie Dubuisson-Quellier, Catherine Grandclément, Antoine Hennion, Bruno Latour, Alexandre Mallard, Cécile Méadel, Fabian Muniesa and Vololona Rabeharisoa
