Canay Ozden-Schilling is an anthropologist at the National University of Singapour. Her research focuses on electricity markets and global port logistics. Her research interests include the scientific and technological cultures that create and disseminate the economic formations we live with. She is the author of The Current Economy: Electricity Markets and Techno-Economics (Stanford University Press, 2021), an ethnography of the electricity grid in the United States in the era of competitive markets and smart grids. Drawing on fieldwork with market data analysts, grid engineers, and citizen activists, the author analyses economic expertise as both heterogeneous and technology-driven. Canay Ozden-Schilling is currently working on a second book on global supply chain logistics, as seen from the port cities of Mersin, Turkey and Singapore. She will present her current work on the subject.
